New Nintex Responsive Forms: Faster Design Experience = Faster Results

Euan Gamble presented at Nintex InspireX 2017.

At Nintex, we’re passionate about making it easier to get work done. That’s why we’re especially excited about our new Nintex responsive forms technology because it delivers on this promise and represents Nintex investments into next-gen forms, codename: Zinc.

We discussed these innovations last week during Nintex InspireX in New Orleans.

Nintex customers know that our current Pixel Perfect technology allows users to place controls on the design canvas – exactly where they want and on the exact device layout they want. We also know that everyone welcomes speed – including a faster forms design experience to deliver results faster.

So, we did just that.

When released, our customers can open the Nintex form designer and choose between Pixel Perfect or our new Nintex responsive form designer – giving everyone more options on how to build forms.

Once you select the Responsive designer, you will notice a few changes including:

  • We’ve removed Device Layouts. There is just one layout that will adapt automatically to whatever device you’re using, whether that’s a desktop/laptop with a full-size screen, a tablet, or a smartphone. All of the functionality is present across all device types, of course, but the layout is automatically optimized for the relevant screen size.
  • Once you drag your first control to the design canvas, you will see controls no longer overlap. Each control occupies its own space allowing you to insert a control above, below, to the left or right of other controls – making it easier than ever to position controls on the canvas.
  • The Responsive Designer still allows you to use rules, validation, and logic but allows you to design faster, with fewer layouts to worry about.
  • The install also allows you to configure what designer you would prefer through Central Administration. This setting can hide either Pixel Perfect, Responsive, or allow the form designer to choose their preferred designer.

Responsive Forms

We’re looking forward to putting Nintex Responsive forms to work for your organization. This innovation will be made available to Nintex customers in the months ahead.

Note that all Nintex subscription customers are licensed for Nintex Responsive forms. Perpetual-license customers with current software assurance agreements may upgrade to Nintex Forms for SharePoint 2013 or Nintex Forms for SharePoint 2016, which support Responsive forms. Perpetual-license customers, without a current software assurance agreement, should speak to their Nintex partner or with a Nintex territory manager or account manager about licensing options.
